God is Not A Consumer Product

For the past couple of weeks our church has been joining with thousands of churches around the world for a teaching series called "One Prayer". Each week we simulcast a different person who speaks on the topic "God is...". This week was my husbands turn to speak live (which I was glad since I haven't heard him preach in 3 weeks) and his topic was "God is FATHER".
I would say my favorite point from the message was "God is not a consumer product". We buy things every day that we just have to have because the t.v. and magazines say it is so great, then we play with it, use it, toss it around for a few days and throw it aside because it did not live up to our expectations. We need to avoid lumping God in with these less than par items. To do this we must first have a realistic view of who God is. Second, we must want God for who He is more than the things He can give us. And lastly, we must trust God even when things don't go the way we planned or the way it worked for someone else.
Don't toss God aside today because you think He let you done some how. Talk to Him, read His word, and rest in the fact that He loves you more than you will ever know.

"This is your Father you are dealing with, and He knows better than you what you need".
