This past Saturday our core team at Elevate Church volunteered at the local Domestic Violence Shelter. We sought them out and found out what their greatest need was - Cleaning and organizing the donations that are stored in the garage. Although it was a big job, the humidity had to have been 100% and the mosquitoes were biting our ankles, we had a great time as a group doing something tangible for a people in need.
Adam and I have always sought ways to show people Jesus through everyday means, now we have the opportunity to cast this vision to our church and they are jumping in with all their heart, soul and strength.
For the next 3 months we have dedicated one Saturday a month to assist the DV Shelter in whatever they have need of. Future projects may include landscaping, painting interior walls, deep cleaning, etc. As our relationship with the shelter grows, some of the ladies of Elevate Church may also get the opportunity to interact more personally with the women living in the shelter.
I am so glad to be a part of a great group of people that are passionate about seeing our community transformed by Christ's love
